PDF Map of Slocum's River Preserve
Slocum's River Preserve runs along the (as you might have guessed) Slocum River. There is a walk through through some fields before getting to the actual preserve.

The shallow woods runs both to the right and the left of the access trail in large loops. Straight leads directly to the river.

Going left (which is north) leads through woods to a large field, and then back through a smaller field. On the map, that smaller field is incorrectly called a Bluebird Field. We say incorrectly, because what we actually saw there were tree swallows.

This house looks nice.

The mate isn't so certain.

Perhaps this one is better.

Continuing south past the access trail leads to another field that has a handy spot to rest.

The path continues along the river and then turns up along an old stone wall that divides fields.

In the next field, some deer were nibbling but still staying alert.

The land adjascent to the preserve is farmed; you can just see the farmhouse over the hill.
