Our house had a wood stove that we never used, and a lovely stone fireplace that we could barely even see because it was obstructed by so many plants. So we decided to get rid of the wood stove and put in a gas fireplace insert. February 2026
We were fortunate that the fireplace was installed when it was, because after that we got a series of snowstorms. The biggest of those was indeed a blizzard. Click here or on the picture below for an album of pictures of the blizzard aftermath (spoiler: 32 inches of snow). Not a lot of commentary against the pictures, but a few comments here and there.

While doing the install of our gas fireplace insert, the chimney sweep told us that the repairs we were hoping he could do required a higher skill level in masonry than he has. So after the weather warmed, mason Joe Fleurent came and did some repairs.
