This year our Boothbay Harbor vacation at Topside Inn had a little twist. We typically stay in the main house of the inn but they were remodeling our room and, as is typical of projects, it went longer than expected. So instead they suggested we stay in their 'carriage house', which is a separate building across their lawn. Here is the route from the carriage house to the main house (which is where breakfast is served).
A close-up of the cute bird watcher sculpture that is on the lawn:
Here is the entrance to the Carriage House, taken in the evening. The room is on the top floor; the area below (their personal garage) is not part of the room.
The top of the Carriage House has a pretty cupola.
The inside of the Carriage House is more spacious than a room in the main inn, and made it very easy to sit down and enjoy a fire in the fireplace while looking at pictures on our laptop. This is the living room area:
This picture was taken from the far corner of the room with a wide lens. You can see the living area as well as the sleeping area. There is a section for storing clothing on the right, and a kitchenette area on the left. The bathroom is hidden by the divider.
We felt welcomed from the moment we walked in.
Walking back and forth from the inn gave us more opportunities than usual to appreciate the view of the harbor that is available from the large lawn of the inn. On the left side of this picture, through the tree, you can see the top portion of our cozy little Carriage House. The land has already started descending towards the water.
This picture, zoomed in from the other side of the harbor, shows where the inn and the carriage house are located. The buildings in the foreground belong to the Boothbay Harbor Shipyard.
Breakfasts were back in the main house. The entrance area has a lovely large table that has various selections for breakfast. The eggs are from their own chickens, and were available every day in addition to the featured entree.
Buzz and Mark are the inn keepers.
Those are not piles of ice cream behind Buzz. Those are flavored butters that they make at the inn.
When breakfast is a savory item, there is some type of baked goods to accompany it. Some examples are baked cinnamon donuts, blueberry lemon bread, and blueberry muffins. (We have many pictures of breakfasts on previous year's BBH trip reports, if you are interested in seeing them.)
Here we are at breakfast one morning.
Here is another view of the inn, this time in the evening.
The inn has a pretty little bar where drinks of various types are available. This year they had a Kentucky Derby party with trivia questions; we knew some of the answers.
