Macro, Small-Scale Scenes, and Abstract

The weather on this trip was not as good as we have had on other trips to this area, and when we left we felt that we had not gotten many good photographs. After we developed and reviewed them, however, we discovered that our impression was wrong. We had plenty of pictures that we are pleased with. Hopefully you have also enjoyed our photographs from Maine. We will leave you with these macro, abstract, and small scale pictures. Since we were there in the springtime, small ferns and other plants were prevalent.

6 fiddleheads are growing from one spot on the forest floor.

One fiddlehead is taller than the other two.

This is a close-up of three fern fiddleheads.

3 reddish stalks are growing in front of a blurred green background.

A branch has small tan growths that are probably faded flowers.

Paul sees Anne in this next pose a lot, such as when she was taking the second picture below.

Anne is squatting near the ground, wearing a brimmed hat, while holding her camera that is on a tripod.

A dead spider is suspended in the air on a spider thread.

Another spider, this time finding a bit of protection in a rock crevice.

A black spider sits in a valley between rock ridges.

The rocks are often interesting.

This rock has long splashes of color between black outlines. The color goes from white at the top, to yellow, then dark red.

This picture has a rock with one long stripe of yellow amidst stripes of varying gray colors.

This one looks like a high-rise residence.

A rock that has a line of small holes.

This next photo is a comparison of techniques. It is the same photograph first developed normally, then adjusted to highlight the moss stems. Put your mouse over the picture to see the alternate version.

Now we have a couple small scale scenes to remind us that we are at the ocean...

A nautical rope is tied around a mooring.

A tall probably dead tree stands against a stark blue sky.

... which leads to pictures of wood.

In this black and white photograph, a weathered tree root is featured with the rest of the picture being blurred.

A wood knot sits in the middle of colorful wood.

The knots in this board are shaped like wings.

It had been a damp week, but an enjoyable week.

Gray boards have many drops of rain or dew on them.

This is a close-up of a plant with a yellow center and many green leaves coming off of that. There are water droplets on the leaves.
