Maine Coastal Photography Vacation Page 4

Our inn for the next three nights was Kennebec Inn in Bath. The inn is run by Rachael, who keeps the place immaculate, in addition to her husband Ken, and their dog Nicely Toasted (called Nicely for short). It turns out Rachael is from Lewiston, and had Mrs. Shapiro in highschool. When she found out that Anne's family stays in touch with Mrs. Shapiro, she asked us to "Tell Mrs. Shapiro that I turned out okay." The inn is a lovely old Captain's house. Breakfasts here were enough to carry us through lunch! Here is the inn:

Reid State Park is at the tip of the Georgetown Peninsula, just across the Kennebec River from Bath. Reid State has a large beach area with a marsh behind it, and some rocky sections at the end. This was early December, so the beach was very quiet.

After leaving Reid, we drove back through Bath to Brunswick, and then down Bailey's Island and Harpswell. Here is the Fishermen's Statue at Land's End.

At one point on Route 24 on Orr's Island is a lovely stand of White Birch trees.

For supper, we went to Bombay Mahal, and Indian food in Brunswick. After we ordered, the waiter asked what spice level we wanted. Anne immediately and without hesitation answered "Extra hot." Well, they know what extra hot is at this restaurant! Later, the waiter hesitantly asked us if it was hot enough for us; we assured him it was. We made certain that we ate the entire meal to reassure them; this was easy since it was delicious (as well as extra hot).
