Bonaire 2007

Continued from

The last day is a non-diving day. Unfortunately, one of the big ships came in that day, but it didn't impact us too much because we were going places that they weren't. We went up the coast on some dirt roads and checked out some future dive spots. Then we went into Washington Slagbaai park. This is a very rugged area of the island, which was made a park back in 1969 by wonderful foresight of the former owner. (Check out the website; it has lots of great information.) They have upgraded the entrance area recently, and it has a really neat library there now. I expect lots of Bonairian children have assignments to do there. One particularly nice feature were the new bathrooms, where I thought it was fairly easy to tell the men's room from the women's room

There are many lizards in the park, including larger ones that you don't see very often on the rest of the island

We then went down to the south portion of the island, to catch some of the last light for pictures

And we always do a little birdwatching when on Bonaire
