We have a bonus page this year: flights of imagination using our photographs. These pictures do not represent exactly what we saw, as will be obvious when you review the pictures below. The first photograph is simply a black and white version; some scenes are best shown in black and white.
You are lucky that Anne is still around after this vacation. She was attacked by a huge wooden monster! Fortunately the monster was actually friendly and just wanted her to pat its head.
You might remember the trolls that were at the Maine Botanical Garden. What we didn't tell you is that they had been sitting around too long; this is what happens when a wooden troll sits in one spot for a long time!
But after we woke them up, they were happy to play with us.
They had so much fun playing that they decided to accompany us to a few other spots. All five felt that Hendricks Head was close enough to visit.
Lilja was also interested in the Marshall Point lighthouse.
And Roskva is so brave she even came down to Portland!
Seeing the trolls out and about inspired some of the statues to check out the ocean water and shore.
And the Soapbox Rider went on vacation to Massachusetts and Cape Cod.
It is a good thing that none of them were in the water that evening when the setting sun was having a bit of a fit!
But after sunset everything was calm and majestic.
Note that the 2 immediately preceding pictures incorporate views provided by NASA from the new James Webb Space Telescope.
I spy with my little eye ... an alpaca!
And speaking of little eyes, these little people were fixing up the entrance to their cave abode.
Did you know lighthouses aren’t just for the ocean? As proof, here is the Portland Plains Lighthouse.
It looks remarkably similar to the Portland Head Light. Here is an 'old painting' of the Portland Head Lighthouse so you can compare.
A turtle starting out on an adventure.
Here is an impressionist take on Five Islands.
Tulips done with a paint roller (not really, of course).
And finally, we have 'Cloudships'.
