Continuing from page 3:
Just North of Rockland (which is a port city) is Rockport (also a port city). Not surprisingly, there is another lighthouse near Rockport, called Indian Island Lighthouse. You can see the lighthouse on the right. A fun item in this photo is the small sailboat that almost looks like a toy next to the larger boats.
Some other boats in the area.
And a gull announcing ... something.
Going the other direction from Rockland is Owl's Head Lighthouse, which we have shown in previous years. The lighthouse is at the top of a ridge; you can see the stairs to get up to it.
The stairs are fairly steep.
Next to the lighthouse is the house where the lighthouse keeper used to stay; the building is still used by the Coastguard. The upstairs window has a model sailboat in it.
There is a beach down the hill on the other side of the lighthouse. Anne was in her typical position when taking pictures: crouching. She has her hand over the lens to keep spray off of it when not taking a photo.
Further down the same peninsula is Marshall Point Lighthouse, which we have featured before. Here is a view from the left, and a view from the right.
The stairs to the Lightkeeper's House:
The rocky shoreline in the area was a great place to have lunch.
Pemaquid Point Lighthouse is on another peninsula. We have given this lighthouse an entire page before. This year we will share just a few pictures. Note the Fresnel lens.
This next picture is the seaside view of the lighthouse:
It is a picturesque lighthouse, as shown by the person painting this view of the lighthouse.

This is Cuckolds Lighthouse, showing the lighthouse and the little bay that gives the best (landside) view of the lighthouse:
