Vermont Gathering Pg 3

On Thursday Paul and I did a Vermont Photo Tour. We wanted to capture the look and feel of Vermont. The area certainly had it in spades!

Our first stop was the Mansfield State Forest waterfall, which is where we stopped as a group after the hike. We got there before the crowds.

Some people came after a bit to explore the area.

Then we continued down Rte 108. On the other side of Smugglers' Notch was a rest area with some information on the area. Stowe Ski Area is on the Stowe side of the mountain, and Smugglers' Notch ski area is on the Jeffersonville side of the notch.

We stopped for lunch in Jeffersonville. We ate at 158 Main. While there, we picked up a tourist map of Jeffersonville and Morrisville. This goes along with the tourist map we picked up of Stowe. These maps are surprisingly good. They highlight advertisers, of course, but if you learn to read them they have a lot of other information on them as well. We decided to do a loop and drive back through Morrisville and then down again on Rte 100 back to Stowe. In Jeffersonvill was a nice covered bridge over Lamoille River.

On the road to Morrisville was a working farm. It was very 'Vermont'.

We got gas and then I wanted to take a country road shown on the tourist map. It was a great choice, a well maintained dirt road. On a side road we found some cows.

We stopped at a store called Green Top Market. If for some reason you find yourself in Morristown Corners, check it out. Nice spot. Driving back to Stowe we found a lovely mountain cemetery.

Another nice drive from there south to Stowe. The road we took provided an excellent view of the profile of Mount Mansfield. We stopped at the well maintained entrance to a house to take some pictures.

Back in Stowe, just down the road from our lodge, is a corn field. Unfortunately, the Minnesota experts (Pat specifically) said that they could not find good corn locally; our timing might have been off.

Dad, Cristina, Cori, Jeremy, & children made supper that night. We also had a little celebration for Ted's birthday. Matt had arranged to get a cake, and specified a beer theme. We were all very impressed by the results.
