Continuing on in the park is a "spout", or blow hole, where water comes in and spouts up.

This picture shows one of the "playas", or inlets for water. Notice the flat rough surface, and how deep the inlet is. Also notice my post-dive outfit; this is the ready-to-wear one that inspired the ones I made. (And that isn't post-dive hair; this was our last day so we didn't dive. That is wilt-in-the-heat hair.)

Notice my incredible tan?

A little further is the northern lighthouse. You have to hike up a small hill to get to it. We had an incredible sight here: honey bees! They had made a hive in the wall. It looks like the park rangers walled off the hive from the inside to protect hapless tourists like us. From the cliff where this is situated, you get a good view of the northern coast and the old lighthouse. Check out the cactus that Paul is leaning against. I opted not to risk that, even though the "trunk" of the cactus looked harmless.

Although they are in the distance (they aren't very cooperative), there were a number of flamingoes in the park.

Speaking of cactus, there is lots of that in the park.

Boca Slagbaai is a pretty inlet with one of the few real beaches on the island. There is the old custom house here, that was recently redone after serious damage from heavy waves.

As a reminder of how hot it gets, there is also a picture of me going into the water, fully clothed. (OK, I only went up to my knees.)

Now that you have seen the land, it is time to meet some of the animals on the "" page...
